Describe a mood, an occasion, or the person you're folding for, and AI matches you to a real traditional origami model - a crane, a samurai kabuto helmet, a kusudama flower ball - then explains why it fits and the actual fold sequence behind it.
Description
Origami - "ori" (fold) and "kami" (paper) - turns a single uncut square of paper into thousands of possible forms, but most people outside Japan know only one model: the crane. Behind that single fold sits centuries of technique, from the thousand-crane senbazuru tradition to modular unit origami built from dozens of interlocking pieces. Origami Muse closes that gap. Describe a mood, an occasion, or who you're making something for - a friend going through a hard week, a child's birthday, a quiet Sunday with nothing to do - and our AI, working from a curated set of real, documented origami models, matches you to the one that fits best. Each match comes with a clear explanation of why it was chosen, what the finished model represents, and roughly how many folds it takes. Every match also includes a plain-language breakdown of the actual fold techniques behind it: the yama-ori (mountain fold) and tani-ori (valley fold) that everything else is built from, the squash fold and petal fold used to shape three-dimensional forms like the crane and the iris flower, and the reverse fold used to angle a beak, a wing, or a helmet's brim. The Models tab lets you browse the full curated collection - birds like the crane and the flapping bird, vessels like the sanbo tray and the masu box, action models, and Akira Yoshizawa's wet-folding style - as a standalone reference any time. Completed folds are saved to a personal Fold Diary with photos and notes, so a shelf of finished paper eventually becomes a record of the moments behind each one.

About Ads

This app displays ads via Google AdMob, including a banner at the bottom of the screen. Free AI matches are limited to 5 per day; once that limit is reached, watching a rewarded video ad unlocks 3 additional matches. The mood or occasion text you enter is sent to Anthropic's Claude API solely to generate your match and is not permanently stored on our servers.

Roadmap

Why This App

Origami is one of the most recognized Japanese crafts in the world, yet almost all of that recognition stops at a single model. Origami Muse starts from something anyone can describe in a sentence - a mood, an occasion, a person in mind - and turns it into a specific, real traditional model with an honest explanation of the folds that built it, turning a familiar craft into something worth actually making.
